Tolkien's works have inspired street names all over the world, from Charlotte, North Carolina to, with apologies to my Dutch friends, a very uninspired tract of row houses in Geldrop, Netherlands.

By far the best I have seen is what looks like a new tract of homes in South Woodman Ferrars, England.

Welcome to Middle-earth.

This is Buckleberry Heath.

Arwen Grove

Bree Hill

Buckland Gate

Butterbur Chase

Bywater Road

Celeborn Street

Crickhollow

Elrond's Rest

Gandalf's Ride

Gimli Watch. Absolutely my favorite street, so I have 3 of those homes. It was hard to choose.

Gladden Fields

Goldberry Mead

Great Smials

Hobbiton Hill

Lorien Gardens

Meriadoc Drive

Shirebourn Vale

The Withywindle

Thorin's Gate

Took Drive

Treebeard Copse

Westmarch

White Tree Court

No Legolas Close? I'm disappointed! It would be fun to live there, though.

A couple of weeks ago I was on holiday in Solva, Pembrokeshire. The cottage next to ours was called Rivendell. It did have a rushing torrent at the bottom of the garden, but it still wasn't quite how I picture Imladris!

There were a couple un-mapped, un-named streets in the tract, so he may be there, lol. Yes, I've seen a few Rivendell's or Lothlorien cottages that don't live up to the name, lol.

Those three in Gimli Watch indeed rock :-)

My word...once you get used to the older styles, seeing the detached houses with their giant yards and no trees or ivy or anything...they look so bare and well...American. LOL! Some of them are lovely structurally, but my eyes just finished looking at beautiful stone houses in another part of England and are feeling a little biased ;-)

Well, that and I live in the Pacific NW. I like trees and greenery, thank you! ;-)

*hugs you*

Gimli Watch was my favorite street by far. Those houses were different and unusual enough to provoke interest. The tract is so modern looking compared to what we've been seeing, it really doesn't compare. I tend to stay away from the new developments, but this one was fun.

I nearly bought a house in South Woodham Ferrers when I was younger. The building of new housing stock dates back to the early eighties and I believe they are still building houses there.

No Erestor either. There were a couple un-mapped, un-named streets in the tract, so he may be there and we just can't see him.

So neat! Its all very pretty, but I think I much prefer the green spaces. I do agree with others - nothing for Legolas? LOL!

Very new and modern compared to the others. There were a couple un-mapped, un-named streets in the tract, so Legolas may be hiding there.

Isn't that a great neighborhood? The developer did a nice job of building variety.
