[livejournal.com profile] mdarkdreamer and [livejournal.com profile] a_terri_beth got it from what I was listening to - book 5 of The Ladies' No. 1 Detective Agency about the fabulous Mma Ramotswe. Delightful books written by Alexander McCall Smith, who was born in Zimbabwe and now teaches law at the University of Edinburgh.

The hint in the picture was the traditional round Botswana house with a thatched roof, which you can just make out down the road.

The railroad crossing is located in Palapye, Botswana.

Wish I'd seen this earlier - I could have answered this. I used to drive through Palapye loads of times when I lived in Botswana! I even stayed at the hotel a few nights when I was waiting to be taken to my first posting :)

*hugs*

I wondered if that's how you picked Naledi for a name! I'd no idea you lived in Botswana. Google maps has arrived there, and nearly every street of Gabarone is done - even Old Naledi.

*hugs*

I'll have to look it up. I didn't live in Gaborone - I lived further north. I forgot there was a district of Gaborone called Old Naledi. I chose the name because it means 'star'. I've always thought it was a beautiful name :)

This was fun! It looked like Africa.

I can't see that round house...

I'll have to post a closer view of it. I was very happy to find that Google maps is working in Botswana. All of Gabarone is done.

I wonder where they will come to my country. All I can see here are pictures.

I think eventually their goal is to map every country.

It's so like a Free State village that I could only tell it wasn't in South Africa because the road and railing looked somehow wrong. Still, close --- just over the border :D

Very close! I was so excited to see that Botswana is starting to be mapped. Nearly every street of Gabarone is done.
